Tim McCarver was a former Major League Baseball player and a well-known baseball broadcaster.

On October 16, 1941, he was born in Memphis, Tennessee, in the United States.

McCarver spent 21 seasons as a catcher in the Major Leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals, Philadelphia Phillies, Montreal Expos, and Boston Red Sox.

He was a two-time All-Star and led the Cardinals to two World Series titles in 1964 and 1967.

Tim McCarver passed away on Thursday in Memphis. He died of heart failure. He was a dependable big-league catcher who played for four decades, was selected to two All-Star teams, and earned two World Series titles.

However, his greatest fame came from his work as a Hall of Fame broadcaster. He was 81. The National Baseball Hall of Fame made a statement about his passing.
